"Unsolicited existence"
podest, text, candles, pyrite, pvc
I don‘t allow my head to go there invites you to the place where the present and the past become detached. Where our net-world shows us a sign of life, where sleep is only borrowed, home is only temporary and love is always finite. In spatial and video installations and objects Miriam Schmidtke proposes an exorcism of our everyday objects and our browser histories.
"Post-Phlegmatic Stress Disorder"

The exhibition space ADA is the last unrenovated apartment in the gentrified environment of a neighborhood in Vienna. Once inhabited for decades of their lifetime by an elderly couple until their passing, it is now a project space for artistic interim use. Starting from the local conditions, ADA tries to invite artists to deal with its human condition in order to question their own role in society. The exhibition series on the theme of transformation and transience of identity represented in the remnants of human existence, is the default. The invited artists are confronted with the history of the space, the metamorphosis from the past to the now, to the future‘s final oblivion. Sounding out of the premises, their history, their environment and the artistic boundaries are in the field of vision. This direct exposure of the own person with the locality takes direct reference to the conditions of the place both historically and topographically to the present as well as in the sense of social engagement with it.
